Quality: Building Robust Systems for Seamless Operations
The year began with a comprehensive overhaul of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) at MINI Plant Oxford. The initiative included reviewing draft SOPs through process surveillance, finalising updated versions, and ensuring process folders and skill matrices reflected current practices. Non-active processes were retired, and new ones were incorporated seamlessly, enhancing training and operational clarity.
R&HA also prioritised Quality Control and Improvement, conducting Integrated Management System (IMS) audits aligned with ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, and TISAX standards. These audits identified risks and opportunities for improvement, ensuring compliance, safety and environmental sustainability. Notably, R&HA integrated 350 new parts across key warehouse facilities through enhanced 5S audits, optimising productivity and maintaining a clean, efficient workspace.
Achieving TISAX Level 2 Certification: A Milestone in Information Security
One of the year’s standout achievements was achieving TISAX Level 2 certification for the MINI Plant Oxford in September 2024. TISAX (Trusted Information Security Assessment Exchange) is an essential framework for ensuring robust data protection and information security within the automotive industry. This certification underscores R&HA’s dedication to safeguarding sensitive operational and customer data, a critical factor in maintaining trust and regulatory compliance.
This success was supported by the implementation of ISO 27001 controls, the introduction of new information security policies, and the roll-out of compliance-focused training programs. By achieving TISAX certification, R&HA has fortified its position as a trusted logistics partner capable of meeting the highest security standards.
Sustainability: Lean Logistics Meets Green Logistics
Sustainability remained at the forefront of R&HA’s strategy. The company introduced several measures to align with ESG goals, including:
- Launching a roadmap for ESG strategy and testing the automation of shop floor management boards (SFMB) to reduce paper usage.
- Publishing R&HA’s first Sustainability Report and calculating greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions for MINI Plant Oxford.
- Achieving carbon-neutral certification for R&HA Head Office for 2024 by purchasing offset credits.
- Contributing environmental and sustainability data to the CDP disclosure platform at BMW’s request.
- Boosting the NQC Supplier Assurance SAQ sustainability score from 72% in 2023 to 75% in 2024.
These efforts highlight the integration of lean logistics with environmentally conscious practices. By optimising resources, reducing waste, and aligning with global sustainability benchmarks, R&HA has demonstrated that efficiency and environmental stewardship go hand in hand.
A Collaborative Effort: A Shared Success
None of these achievements would have been possible without the commitment and expertise of the teams at R&HA and BMW MINI Plant Oxford. The shared dedication to quality, innovation and sustainability exemplifies the strength of the partnership.
In celebrating these successes, R&HA recognises the invaluable contributions of its leadership and workforce. This reflects the company’s “home-grown timber” philosophy, emphasising the development of talent from within. Many leaders have risen through the ranks, fostering a culture of respect and appreciation for every role, whether on the shop floor or in strategic management.
Looking Ahead As R&HA looks to the future, the achievements of 2024 provide a solid foundation for continued innovation and progress. The company remains committed to refining its operations, safeguarding information, and championing sustainability across all sectors it serves. Together with partners like BMW, R&HA is setting the standard for what lean, green and secure operational logistics can achieve.
